Tears, tissues and long drawn out goodbyes could be seen in the Prep courtyard over the past two weeks. Not from our new students, though, it was mums and dads, as they left their precious children with us, beginning their journey at CGGS for the next 13 years. Our Prep students have quickly become independent, hanging blazers, unpacking their bags and placing their diary, water bottle and fruit snacks in the baskets and tubs. Our Prep teachers have been thrilled with the students and their…

There’s always a special energy at the start of a school year. Well rested, having spent time with family and friends over the long summer break, there’s not only the excitement – perhaps best encapsulated by the first-day joy of Preppies beginning their “big school” journey – but also that feeling of a fresh start; a time to set new goals, form new habits, and embrace new challenges. We’re delighted to welcome a number of key new staff as well, and are looking forward to their expertise and…

Theo Hartman has made the move from Melbourne and will be teaching Design and Art. Sarah Martin (also from Victoria) is our new Head of Faculty in Creative Arts, and is joined by Elizabeth Owen…
After attending a summer production at the Sydney Festival, I became pleasantly reacquainted with the music of Bob Dylan. Arguably one of the greatest singer songwriters of our time, Dylan has gifted generations of listeners music that speaks of change, challenge, strength, and transformation – once musing ‘that the only thing stable is change’. Inspired by Dylan and the vitality a new year brings, in my address to staff at the beginning of the year, we too discussed change and the…
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our families to the new school year – those returning and those joining us in 2022. We also welcome new staff to the school who will be introduced in the relevant Head of School section of this eNews and I warmly welcome them to CGGS. Together they bring decades of teaching experience to our classes and have joined us from overseas, interstate and within Canberra, adding to the rich diversity of our highly skilled teachers. This week has been busy…
