The Year 8 girls had an amazing experience at their camp in Term 3. After the cancellation of the camp the past two years due to Covid restrictions, everything came together in 2022 for a magical experience for all. The girls had four days of glorious weather, a jam-packed schedule of activities, and the chance to get to get to know others and the alpine environment.
The girls had two full days at Thredbo ski resort with a total of six hours of instruction on either skiing or snowboarding. For the remainder of their time at Thredbo the girls were able to ski or snowboard with their friends on friendly slopes. They also visited the Perisher cross-country trails and the backcountry on snow shoes. The girls learned how to penguin dive, build snow shelters and of course make snow angels and build snowmen.
As part of the Young Women who Dare Signature Program, the girls were challenged to try something different while camp. These experiences ranged from daring to be without social media for the week (a phone-free camp), daring to give downhill skiing/snowboarding a go, daring to climb a mountain on snowshoes, daring to self-manage themselves in a foreign outdoor environment, daring to make new friends, and daring to help those around them. We could not be prouder of the girls. Well done Year 8!
