At CGGS, we believe in fostering an environment where our students can excel in a wide array of disciplines. In Term 2 Week 3, we are thrilled to highlight our students' outstanding accomplishments.
In debating, our Year 12 Kitchen team showcased their exceptional debating on Friday 10 May evening, securing a well-deserved victory. Although our Year 9 Tyrell team did not win, their participation and dedication are commendable.
Emily (Year 11) represented the AusCycling U17 Pathways Team in Malaysia, competing in the prestigious Australasian Cup hosted by the Malaysian National Cycling Federation. Her performance was stellar, resulting in silver medals in both the Sprint and Team Sprint events and placing 4th in the Scratch Race and 5th in the Keirin. Emily's dedication and talent have earned her a scholarship with the ACT Academy of Sport for Cycling. This summer, she will join an intensive training camp hosted by AusCycling, preparing for future World Championship and Olympic selections. We eagerly await her future achievements.
The team of bright minds in Year 5 demonstrated their intellect and wisdom by participating in the State Competition of the da Vinci Decathlon in Sydney, representing our city with distinction. We will share their achievements shortly.
At the IGSA Cross Country in Frensham, our students achieved outstanding individual and team sport results. Congratulations to the students for their hard work and dedication. The team placed 15th out of 27 attending schools. The results included:
This week, CGGS also participated in the ACT Independent Schools Bands Festival. The Empire Concert Band, under the expert direction of Justin Lingard, Music Academy Instructor, captivated the audience with a vibrant rendition of "Mambo" from West Side Story. Our students also had the unique opportunity to perform in a combined band with Radford College and Canberra Grammar School under the baton of Dr. Rob McWilliams.
