As we enter the final week of the academic year, we pause to acknowledge our community's remarkable journey. Throughout the year, our students have continued to pursue their passions and excel in their chosen programs, supported by dedicated teachers, professional staff and the broader CGGS community.
This week’s highlights include an exciting Duke of Edinburgh expedition and a masterclass opportunity that brought global performance insights into our classrooms.
Gold Duke of Edinburgh students embark on a Tasmanian adventure
Our Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award students set off for Tasmania on Wednesday 11 December, eager to tackle an expedition of hiking and canoeing in some of the country’s most stunning landscapes. This journey represents the culmination of their previous experiences in the Bronze and Silver levels, allowing them to put their hard-earned skills to the test in new and unfamiliar territory.
This adventure will challenge their physical endurance and foster leadership, teamwork and confidence as they navigate the rugged environment together. We look forward to hearing their stories upon their return.
CGGS Alumni returns to inspire Performing Arts students
In Week 7, our Drama students were fortunate to work closely with CGGS Alumni, Romy Turner (Class of 2013), who delivered a series of acting masterclasses for Years 7, 9 and 10 Drama classes, as well as the cast of our upcoming production, Seussical the Musical.
Romy, who has studied at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and performed on and off Broadway in New York City, brought a wealth of professional insights to our program. Her sessions were filled with practical techniques, performance strategies, and career guidance—an invaluable experience that broadened our students’ understanding of the Performing Arts industry.
These enlightening masterclasses gave our aspiring performers new tools to refine their craft and reinforced the idea that a future in the arts is not only possible but deeply rewarding. We thank Romy for sharing her journey and expertise.
As 2024 draws to a close, the achievements and activities of our students encapsulate a year marked by determination, growth, and community spirit. We look ahead with pride and anticipation, confident that our students will continue to strive, succeed and shape the world around them.
