This week’s highlights range from global outreach initiatives to thought-provoking academic exercises, reflecting the richness of our school community.
Birthing kits assembly
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) organised a meaningful community service project, packing 400 birthing kits to send to countries in need. These kits will provide essential support and resources to women and newborns around the world.
Embracing Imperfection: Year 7’s workshop
Year 7 students engaged in an insightful session with school counsellor Beth Saab, exploring the concept of 'perfectionism' and learning to value mistakes as part of the growth process. Through playful activities like crafting silly hats and tasting lemons without reacting, students discovered the importance of resilience, humour and embracing life’s imperfections.
Sanvi (Year 5)’s impact for Helping ACT
Sanvi (Year 5) demonstrated exemplary compassion by studying global hunger as part of her PYP Exhibition, launching a food donation appeal for Helping ACT. This generous response was met with heartfelt thanks and recognition from Helping ACT.
Year 9 Changemakers
Our Year 9 Changemaker students celebrated their final session of the year with senior citizens, creating Christmas-themed crafts that fostered intergenerational connection and joy. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Community Service in 2025.
Year 11 IBDP TOK Exhibition
Our Year 11 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students showcased their critical thinking during the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition recently. Each student presented three objects connected to a chosen prompt, offering commentary that reflected their personal perspectives and the real-world contexts of their selections.
Embracing Ministries Toy Drive
As the festive season approaches, we thank everyone who supported the Embracing Ministries Toy Drive. By purchasing gifts and placing them beneath the Christmas tree in the Senior School Reception, our community has helped bring hope and joy to families in Canberra living with disability—many of whom are also experiencing financial hardship. Embracing Ministries collected the donated toys on Thursday morning, and we thank all contributors for embodying the spirit of generosity and reminding us that every act of kindness makes a difference.
