This week, we highlight the achievements of our students in diverse fields—from environmental conservation in Thailand to innovative exploration in cybersecurity—showcasing their passion, resilience and drive to create positive change.
Isabel’s Gold Residential Project with GVI in Thailand
Year 11 student Isabel recently completed her Gold Residential Project with the GVI Sea Turtle Conservation and Adventure Teen Volunteer Program in Phang Nga, Thailand. Through this unique initiative, Isabel immersed herself in Thai culture, gained critical awareness of global environmental issues and contributed to conservation efforts at the Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Centre. Reflecting on her experience, Isabel said:
“The journey with GVI in Thailand was an incredible experience. I learned so much about Thai culture, environmental issues and even made lifelong friends. Volunteering at the local school gave me a different perspective on how lucky we are in Canberra.”
Isabel’s adventure extended beyond volunteering as she explored Thailand’s natural and cultural landmarks, from the ancient temples of Phuket Old Town to the majestic sunrise views at Samet Nangshe.
Pre-K’s art experience at the Waterman Centre
Our Pre-K students recently enjoyed an inspiring art immersion to the Waterman Centre at the Senior School campus, where they participated in an immersive creative experience. Led by Mrs Tara Shield, Head of Creative Arts and Technology and her dedicated team, the session was planned to match the children’s interests and abilities, sparking curiosity and imagination. Each child crafted their own sculptures, which they proudly brought back, and the experience has only heightened their anticipation for our upcoming art show.
Quad Cyber Security Challenge
In today’s digital world, cybersecurity is paramount, and we are proud to see our students leading the way in this critical field. This month, three of our students—Isobel (Year 10), Ridhima (Year 10) and Eva (Year 11)—were selected to participate in the Quad Cyber Challenge, co-hosted by the Governor-General of Australia and Lieutenant General Michelle McGuinness CSC.
Held in honor of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the Challenge aims to promote cyber security awareness and encourage female representation in this rapidly growing sector across the Indo-Pacific. Our students gained invaluable insights into the future of cyber careers, working alongside cybersecurity experts to discuss strategies for maintaining a safe digital environment.
