Congratulations to Emilia (Y7) who received her award for winning the Stile's September Art of Science Competition recently. The monthly competition celebrates the interplay between art and STEM, and the winner of the competition receives prizes for themselves, their teacher and their school. Emilia's work will be displayed in the Senior School Admin Hub.
Jessica (Y4) recently travelled to Coffs Harbour to compete in the Australian National Oztag championships, representing the ACT team.
At Year 12's final eucharist and chapel service in the Chapel of the Annunciation, we held the beautiful tradition of inducting next year's Head Chorister. Our new Head Chorister, Helena (Y11) was inducted by School Chaplain Father Chris Lewis and was given a handover from outgoing Head Chorister Hannah (Y12). Thank you to Hannah and all of our long-serving Year 12 choristers for your outstanding performances, and congratulations Helena, we look forward to listening to you in 2024!
Last week 12 debaters and public speakers travelled to Ravenswood to participate in the IGSA Festival of Speech. The teams placed 9th in the Junior category, 4th in the Senior category and 4th overall. Special mentions to Muntaha (Y11), Brianna (Y10) and Aditi (Y11) who placed 1st in the Current Affairs category, Ridhima (Y9) who placed third in Senior Soapbox, Emily (Y11) who placed 3rd in Senor Readings and Aadyha (Y8) who placed 5th in Junior Readings.
Well done to Niamh (Y2) who won the ICAS Medal for Year 2 English. The Medal is awarded to the student who attains the highest result in ICAS for their state or territory. Niamh's name will also be featured in the 2023 National ICAS Medal winners' commemorative book.
Junior School students participated in Day for Daniel today, which places an emphasis and awareness on community safety. Students either dressed in a touch of red or gathered to walk to school with one of the groups of CGGS students and staff.
