As Term 3 draws to an end, students continue to pursue their interests and talents inside and outside the classroom, culminating in great wins and titles as a result of their term efforts.
Recently a group of Year 9 students hosted senior citizens from Community Services for morning tea and a special ‘show and tell’ as part of the Year 9 Changemaker Community Projects. The students have been forming lasting connections and identifying ways to bring joy and companionship to the people they are interacting with. The morning was filled with warmth and laughter, and students look forward to continuing this partnership in Term 4.
We are immensely proud of Sanara (Year 6), for winning the ACT Rostrum Grand Final title. This marks two consecutive years that a CGGS Year 6 student has won this public speaking competition. Congratulations to Sanara and the supportive group around her, including teachers and parents. Well done, Sanara!
Last week, we shared an outstanding effort from Annabelle (Year 9), whose dedication to her Changemaker project saw her create a handmade granny square blanket for Good Omen Goodeze (GOG). This not-for-profit organisation delivers handmade items to Canberra’s hospitals and health centres. This week, Annabelle reflected on her experience, explaining how the project allowed her to learn new skills and work alongside her grandmother:
“I found this project very enjoyable. It was a good thing to do as I wasn’t only pursuing a hobby and learning new skills, but also giving back to the community. Some people in hospitals need love and care and one way they can get that is through charities like GOG.”
This week our Year 8 students enjoyed their annual camp in the Snowy Mountains. They participated in activities such as snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding. The week was filled with fun, challenge and camaraderie as students forged deeper connections and embraced new experiences in the stunning alpine environment of Australia.
