The final month of Term 3 has not slowed the pace of our students' success, as they continue to apply themselves within and outside of the classroom.
Members of the CGGS Defence community attended the Battle for Australia Commemorative Ceremony recently, held on a sunny morning in the stunning Sculpture Garden of the Australian War Memorial. CGGS students Sofia (Year 10) and Nouvelle (Year 7) and students from 12 other Canberra schools contributed to the completion of a wattle wreath, which was laid during the ceremony.
Last weekend students from the Junior School competed in the Tournament of Minds Regional Final at the ANU. Following their outstanding performances, all three CGGS teams that entered the tournament (STEM (Years 5–6), Arts (Year 5) and Social Sciences (Year 6)) were invited to take part in the Tournament of Minds Branch Finals in a few weeks.
Congratulations to Demi (Year 11) who performed at the final of the Musica Viva's Strike a Chord competition. Strike a Chord is a national chamber music competition for Australian school students, with only 12 groups from across the country selected to play in the Grand Final.
Several CGGS Snowsports student-athletes competed at the Australian National Snowsports Championships recently. A special congratulations to Eliza (Year 8) who won Gold in the Divison 3 Alpine. The Division 6 Alpine team of Viktoria (Year 1), Charlotte, Helena and Yuki (Year 2) also took home a medal, winning Bronze.
Our Junior School students jumped towards an enormous contribution to the Heart Foundation. Participating in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, CGGS raised $15,490 to support life-saving heart health research.
