CGGS performed strongly at the ACT Schools Mountain Bike Championships recently. Siri (Y7), Georgia and Hannah (Y8) won a silver medal in Junior A, Ash (Y10), Lila, Ellie and Seinna (Y12) won a silver medal in College, and Mille, Annie (Y7) and Thusini (Y8) placed fifth in Junior B.
Students in debating and public speaking recently competed in the Kitchen and Tyrell debates against Canberra Grammar School. The Year 9 Tyrell team of Ridhima, Sidhe, Elke and Evelyn won the negative of the proposition, 'That we, as the parent, would choose the gift of good looks rather than the gift of intelligence'.
In netball, Willow (Y6), Isabella (Y8), Erin (Y9) and Isabelle (Y11) won the Best and Fairest award for their respective divisions. Isabella (Y8) and Isabelle (Y11) also finished the season as the leading goal scorers for their division.
At the School Sports Australia (SSA) Swimming Championships, Katelyn (Y8) qualified for the final of the Girls 13 100m breaststroke, while Cadence (Y8) qualified for the finals of the Girls 13 50m and 100m breaststroke.
Chloe (Y11) continues to dominate in the pool. At the NSW State Shortcourse Championship, she won gold in the 16 years 100m freestyle, gold in the 16 years 200m freestyle and silver in the 16 years 50m freestyle.
Well done to Neva (Y4) who has had another book published. Her latest book, Tortolo: A Book on Body Positivity, is about a shelled animal named Tortolo who learns self-acceptance and how to embrace unique beauty.
