Student News Term 3 Week 6

In Week 6 of Term 3, our students continue to excel across a broad spectrum of activities within and beyond the classroom. This week's achievements highlight our students' diverse talents and dedication and reflect the educational excellence offered by CGGS.

Year 4 Wakakirri

We are delighted to announce that our Year 4 students have been named National Award Nominees in the Wakakirri competition. This recognition highlights the creativity, collaboration and dedication of our Year 4 cohort and their teachers, guided by the inspiring leadership of Ms Maree Cronin.

Orange Eisteddfod

Our students' excellence extends beyond the classroom and into the performing arts. Holly (Year 9) not only danced beautifully at the Orange Eisteddfod but also embodied the spirit of CGGS with her kindness, humility, and support for her fellow dancers. Some of her achievements include:

  • Intermediate Ballet Championship Winner
  • Most Promising Classical Ballet Dancer (13yrs and over)
  • Finalist in the 13 Years and over Betty Keirnan Memorial Ballet Scholarship
  • Numerous 1st place awards in Classical Repertoire, Modern Expressive, Contemporary, and Improvisation categories.

Gymnastics

Hayley (Year 9) concluded her competitive season in gymnastics by securing second place overall in the ACT State Championship WAG Level 4. Her dedication and hard work have truly paid off!

Snowsports

Our Snowsports team braved the elements to compete in the ACT Schools Cup, with several students achieving pole positions. Highlights include Siri's (Year 8) 1st place in Division 3 Alpine and multiple team victories.

Wesley Lunchtime Concert

Music is a vital part of life at CGGS and this was beautifully demonstrated at the Wesley Music Centre lunchtime concert, where 25 of our talented musicians performed for the public. The ensembles, including the Beethoven Trio, Clarinet Ensemble, Gabriel Singers, Gabriel Quartet, Wind Quintet and Saxophone Ensemble, who delivered breathtaking performances, showcasing the depth of talent within our school community.

Rostrum Speaking Competition

Sanara (Year 6) has advanced to the ACT Rostrum Grand Final, standing out in a competition involving 80 schools. Sanara’s speech, cleverly comparing the Earth’s magnetic field to the characteristics of influential people, inspired the audience to strive for a world where positive values prevail. We wish her every success in the upcoming final and are confident she will continue to impress.
