Student News Term 3 Week 5

In Week 5 of Term 3, our students continue to excel across a broad spectrum of activities within and beyond the classroom. This week's achievements highlight our students' diverse talents and dedication and reflect the educational excellence offered by CGGS.

Equestrian excellence

Our youngest equestrian student athletes competed at the Arndell Equestrian Carnival recently. Evie (Year 2) and Clara (Year 1) demonstrated remarkable poise and skill in their respective competitions, with Evie winning her rider class for Year 2 and several other categories, while Clara emerged victorious in her Year 1 rider class and shone in competitions against students from Years 2, 3, and 4.

Dance triumphs

Alessandra (Year 6) showcased her exceptional talent at the Orange Dance Eisteddfod, securing first place in jazz, classical ballet, and lyrical. Her artistry was further recognised when she, along with a partner from her dance school, placed third in a duo performance.

Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey

Our Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh participants have embarked on their adventurous journey in Murramarang National Park. Over the past week, students have braved two days of hiking and a day of canoeing, pushing their limits and fostering resilience in the great outdoors.

Guest speaker for Year 10

As part of our ongoing commitment to holistic education, Year 10 students had the privilege of hearing from Liz Lush of the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia. Her insights into pelvic pain, a condition affecting millions globally, offered our students valuable knowledge that aligns with our commitment to empowering young women through education.

Gymnastics and Netball Success

Hayley (Year 4) excelled at the ACT State Championships in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, securing first place in the uneven bars and beam. Hannah (Year 6) also demonstrated her prowess, winning multiple tap dance championships at regional Eisteddfods.

Meanwhile, our Senior School netball team enjoyed a spirited match with Marist College, further honing their skills.
