Lila and Rathiga (Y12) recently graduated from the Questacon Student Training Program, a three-month placement during which students learn skills to present to groups, customer service and communicating science to the general public. Lila and Rathiga rounded off the experience with a period of volunteer work at Questacon during the July holiday, followed by an assessment.

Our Year 4 student performed exceptionally well during their Wakakirri performance on Wednesday. Their moving piece engaged with the motif, ‘Change’ with a focus on the importance of memories, intergenerational connections and community in combatting isolation and loneliness for the elderly in our society. For their performance, the judges awarded the students the following awards:

  • Storytelling Award for a Great Story
  • Storytelling Award for Story Theme and Concept
  • Storytelling Award for Strong use of the Festival Motif
  • The Ensemble Award for wonderful dancing and acting
  • The Production Award for wonderful soundtrack
  • The Best Speaker Award, presented to our students for best articulating their story to the audience.

The judges also commented that the performance was “a beautiful piece with a great message. It was clearly thought out and presented. There was excellent use of props and a strong commitment to the characters.” The girls represented themselves and CGGS brilliantly. Well done to our talented Year 4 students.

Several students will travel to Sydney today to participate in the Independent Girls’ Schools Assocation (IGSA) Twilight Athletics, a competition held prior to the IGSA Athletics Carnival in Week 6. The girls will have an opportunity to compete against other independent girl schools from across NSW.

Students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh program underwent an adventurous journey to Murramarang National Park recently. From 28 July to 1 August, the girls hiked through forests, along beaches, and paddling across breathtaking lakes. The girls pushed the boundaries of their potential and endeavoured to explore the world with an open mind. Well done to our Duke of Edinburgh students for taking advantage of this life-changing opportunity.
