Siri (Y7) competed at the NSW Equestrian State Championships recently, riding in the combined training, show jumping and jump-offs. Siri finished in the top 15 secondary (Years 7-12) for show jumping and fifth for Year 7 competitors.
Several CGGS students from Years 11 and 12 were invited to participate in the 'She Leads College Conference', a one-day leadership event for young women at the end of Term 1. The theme for this year's conference was 'Disrupt', with the day featuring some young, dynamic keynote speakers, a panel session and an interactive skill-building workshop.
Over the school holidays, several students participated in the Duke of Edinburgh horse riding camp. The girls learnt a lot about horsemanship, orienteering, first aid, cooking on a fire and leadership.
Olivia (Y7) had a busy school holiday competing in two athletics championships. At the Athletics Australia U14-18 National Track and Field Championships, she placed second in the U14 Womens 800m and sixth in the U14 Womens 1500m. At the Australian Little Athletics Championships, she placed second in the U13 Girls 800m and 1500m. Olivia had to dive and fall over the line to win her silver medal in the 1500m!
During the school holidays, Annie (Y8) represented the ACT team at the Hockey Australia U15 Girls National Championships. The ACT team placed eighth overall.
