At our Senior School Swimming Carnival on Thursday, Chloe (Y11) won the Tanya Desmond Golden Flipper event, for the fastest eight 50m freestyle students at the School. Chloe set a new record of 26.62 seconds.
On Sunday, 5 March a group of Year 9 students travelled to the Bateman's Bay Markets to undertake face painting, for gold coin donations for the Rotary Club.
Well done to Mila (Y4) who over the course of several months made and sold over 300 earrings, with all proceedings going towards Professor Leonie Quinn’s brain cancer research at the ANU. Mila raised over $12,500.
Our Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) students recently travelled to the Kangaroo Valley to hike and kayak. The girls showed resilience, excellent team work and leadership in a challenging trip.
Our CGGS rowers finished as Head of the Lake and ACT Champions at their final Canberra regatta for the year. The girls won six golds, three silvers and four bronze at the ACT Junior Championships, and 11 golds, two silvers and four bronze at the Head of the Lake.
Congratulations to Grace (Y7) who has been selected to the U14 ACT Raiders touch football team. Grace also received her Level 2 touch football referee badge recently.
Sophia and Eleanor (Y4) had some fantastic results representing CGGS at the Australian Mountain Bike Interschools Championship recently. Sophia and Eleanor achieved a podium finish in the Rockshox Pump track and Osprey Cross Country events respectively.
At the ACT Mile Championship, Olivia (Y7) placed first in the U14 Division and broke the U14 ACT mile record, which has stood since 1986. Pinipa (Y7) also raced in this event and finished second. Olivia has been named in the Athletics ACT team, which will compete at the Athletics Australia U14-18 National Championships in April.
At the ACT Track and Field Championships, Pinipa (Y7) finished third in the U14 Womens 400m and 800m, and fourth in the U14 Womens 1500m. She has been selected to the ACT All Schools National Track and Field team for the 400m and 800m
