Winter has kicked off with a bang, with CGGS students earning fantastic results in skiing competitions. At the Redlands Cup in Thredbo, Mia Brady (Y3), Jorja Campbell (Y4) and Chloe Tan (Y4) won the team event in the Div.5 Female Alpine, with Jorja also placing first in the individual event. Allegra Taubenschlag (Y7) placed seventh in Div.3 and Siri Taubenschlag (Y6) 11th in Div.4. Well done!
The Indoor Cricket National Championships also saw stellar performances from Catherine Diedricks (Y8), Alyse O’Brien (Y8) and Elizabeth Diedricks (Y11). Catherine and Alyse competed together on the ACT U15 girls’ team (where Catherine also played the role of captain), while Elizabeth represented ACT on the U18 team. Both teams had several wins and continuous improvement across the championships. Catherine and Alyse were also both named in the U15 Girls Australian All-Stars for which only 10 girls were selected across the competing states. Congratulations!
At the ACT Netball Junior Championships, Isabella Collins (Y7), Ava and Mia Noonan (Y7), Eleanor Colbert (Y8) and Zahra El-Adhami (Y8) represented Tuggeranong. All teams made it to the finals with Isabella, Ava and Zara becoming runners-up in the Grand Final. Well done girls!
In the pool, Chloe Douglas-Byrne (Y10) had a successful meet at the NSW Country Short-Course Swimming Championships, competing in the 15-16 years and open events. See her impressive results below:
Chloe was also one of only five ACT age-group swimmers who was selected into one of NSW Swimming’s elite Performance Squads as a result of her success at the NSW meet and the Australian National Age Championships held in Adelaide earlier this year. Well done on your impressive performance!
Dance Captain Hollie Teer (Y12) and Izzie Becvarik (Y11) are performing in UNRAVEL by The Training Ground, a pre-professional full dance work at the Erindale Theatre. Unravel is a full-length contemporary dance production inspired by the tale of Romeo and Juliet. You can buy tickets for this weekend's performance here. We wish the girls luck as they take to the stage!
