We recently received sad news of the passing of former Deputy Principal and long-serving staff member Mrs Jenny Wood on Saturday 24 August.
Mrs Wood joined the staff at the then CCEGGS in 1976 as a part-time Science teacher and quickly established herself as a valued member of the faculty. When she retired in 1998, Mrs Wood had served an astonishing 22 years at the School in a variety of roles including Deputy Principal, acting Principal and the Senior Mistress (Staffing). Once during her tenure, Mrs Wood also had responsibility for the Boarding House, overseeing both a re-structure and renovations during this time.
Mrs Wood was pre-deceased by her husband, Jeff. Her daughter, Caroline is a Grammarian in the class of 1986 and is a member of the Gabriel Foundation.
Flags will be flown at half-mast on the Junior and Senior School campuses for the next two days and Mrs Wood’s name will be recorded in the CGGS Book of Remembrance in the Chapel of the Annunciation.
Join us in remembering the contribution Mrs Wood made to our school and hold Caroline and her extended family in your thoughts and prayers.
A memorial for Mrs Wood will be held on Saturday 14 September at 2pm in the Chapel of the Annunciation on the Senior School campus (48 Melbourne Ave, Deakin). All are welcome to join us for this service.
