Pastoral care in 2022

It has been wonderful to welcome students into our classes this week. The Pastoral Care team is excited for the year ahead.

Pastoral Care in 2022

The Senior School Signature programs encourage girls to be their best 'selves', with themes tailored to the needs of each year group:

  • Year 7 – Young Women with Courage
  • Year 8 – Young Women who Dare
  • Year 9 – Young Women as Change makers
  • Year 10 – Young Women who Aspire
  • Year 11 – Young Women who Know Themselves
  • Year 12 – Young Women who Inspire

These Signature programs run in timetabled Tuesday pastoral care sessions throughout the year.

The Pastoral Care Team

There have been several changes to the pastoral care team in 2022. I will be acting as Director (Students) this year while Mrs Skye Tyler takes leave to complete her doctorate. Ms Samantha Newbond has been appointed as Coordinator of Students, a role she will fulfil alongside her duties as Head of Deakin House. Ms Stephanie Kindon has been appointed the Acting Head of Glebe House. We welcome our new Head of Kilburn House, Ms Joanna Payne, from All Hallows School in Brisbane. And Ms Georgina Lennard will be joining our Counselling team in early February. Congratulations to these staff on accepting these positions within the pastoral care team.

Pastoral Care Teachers

Every girl is an important member of her tutor group. Our tutor groups are led by experienced pastoral care teachers, who are your first point of contact should any pastoral concerns arise. If you have any updated information that would help us in the care of your daughter, please let her pastoral care teacher know. The new year is also a good time to update health forms, especially if there have been any changes to your daughter’s medical needs. To do this, please log on to the Family Portal on Agora.

CGGS Parent Partnership Series 2022

We are here to support you and your daughter as she navigates the journey through adolescence. Our Parent Partnership Series is designed to provide information and advice regarding a range of challenging issues facing teenagers today. In Term 1 we are pleased to offer the following virtual events:

  • Tuesday 22 February – Susan McLean: Growing up online. Susan is a former AFP officer who shares her cyber-safety expertise with parents. She will be presenting to our Year 7, 8, and 9 students on Wednesday 23 February.
  • Tuesday 8 March – Breakfast with the Counselling Team – ‘Understanding Anxiety’.
  • Wednesday 23 March – Paul Dillon: Teens, Alcohol and other Drugs: what do parents need to know? Following this parent event, Paul will be delivering his highly-regarded information sessions to our Year 10, 11, and 12 students.

You can find out more about our Parent Partnership Series and RSVP on Humanitix.
