Our CGGS U14 and U18 football teams will pull up their socks in July to support a worthy cause.
Supporting PanKind, The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, our student-athletes will participate in 'Play in Purple', an Australia-wide campaign that raises awareness for pancreatic cancer.
For three weekends in July, teams from all codes, ages, and geographies will wear purple socks to support PanKind's mission to educate and raise awareness about the disease, and to fund research initiatives.
Our teams will don purple socks for their games and host a BBQ to raise funds on Saturday 29 July, with the U14 team kicking off at 1.45 pm and U18 at 3.10 pm.
Play in Purple is in its ninth year, and grew by over 50 per cent in 2021 and 2022 to 25,000 participants. The campaign is supported by state and regional associations, including high-profile A-League clubs Perth Glory and Sydney FC.
Pancreatic cancer is the third deadliest cancer for Australians, with a survival rate of 12.2 percent. PanKind has invested $11.2 million across 45 research projects working towards developing a cure.
CGGS is proud to be able to contribute to PanKind's mission.
